The tradition of producing 'military' plates (military porcelain) began in the 1810s under Emperor Alexander I and continued until the 1910s. Such decorations were especially valued by Nicholas I, an admirer of parades and military uniforms, and his successor Alexander II. Plates were issued in series, sharing a common theme and style. They differ in rim color and decoration: 'red', 'turquoise', 'lilac', and 'gold'. The best artists of the factory painted the plates, including V.D. Yelashevsky, M.V. Kryukov, V.N. Midin, A.F. Mironov, V.A. Stoletov, N.A. Yakovlev, O. Volkova, and others.
