Description

Allach. This figure is the extremely rare painted glazed porcelain Zieten Hussar from 1756, Model No. 115 by Theodor Kärner. The serial number for this figurine is unknown. However, very few of these have been discovered over the years, so it can be assumed that only a handful were actually made or have survived. This is a soldier of the Prussian Hussar (light cavalry) regiment of the 18th century during the reign of Frederick II (the Great) from 1740 to 1786. The regiment was named after its first colonel, Hans Joachim von Zieten. Thanks to his military achievements, Zieten became a general at the age of thirty-six. This figurine was first exhibited by the Allach Porcelain Factory at the House of German Art in Munich in 1942. The Zieten Hussar is painted exceptionally well, with extraordinary attention to detail. Height 35 cm or 14 inches. Close-up of the extremely rare painted glazed porcelain Zieten Hussar from 1756, Model No. 115 by Theodor Kärner. The colors and detailing of the uniform and facial features are superb.
