Designer silver beaker by W.A. Bolin Designer: Barbro Littmarck (1918–2008). Sweden, Stockholm, 1965, W.A. Bolin workshop – a workshop founded by the heirs of the great Russian jeweler Wilhelm (Vasily) Andreevich Bolin, from the famous dynasty of hereditary court suppliers of the Russian Empire, who immigrated to Sweden in the early 20th century. Designer’s monogram. Height: 6.5 cm, top diameter: 6.5 cm. Volume: 150 ml. Weight: 102 grams of sterling silver (925). Barbro Littmarck (1918–2008) was the chief designer at W.A. Bolin from the start of her work there in 1941 until the mid-1980s. Some of her most famous works include the bishop’s crosier and processional cross for Uppsala Cathedral, as well as pieces for several other churches throughout Sweden. Her works often featured subtle humor and quite charming, amusing touches. For several years, she made small woven basket brooches of yellow gold with ruby and sapphire flowers and enamel leaves. All 57 different basket brooches she made were unique. Barbro Littmarck’s works are displayed at the National Museum in Stockholm and Goldsmith’s Hall in London. Designer silver beaker (cup).
