
Ivan Vladimirovich Kolesnikov is an artist and Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts (Department of Contemporary Art Movements, 2009). He was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the Russian Federation in 2012. He graduated from the Stroganov Moscow State Academy of Arts and Industry, where his diploma supervisor was A. P. Krylov (1982). He works in the field of contemporary art and graphic design and has curated many major national and international art projects. He is also a publisher of books and albums on contemporary art.

His works are held in both domestic and foreign museums and galleries, including the Russian State Library, Vologda Regional Art Gallery, Kostroma State Museum-Reserve, Ivanovo Regional Art Museum, Tula Museum of Fine Arts, National Art Gallery "Khazine" (Kazan), the Library of the State Hermitage (St. Petersburg), the Library of the Pushkin Museum, Moscow Museum of Modern Art, the Collection of the Russian Academy of Arts, the State Tretyakov Gallery, Kolodzei Art Foundation (USA/Russia), Sahart Foundation (Morocco), The Harriman Institute of Columbia University (USA), The New York Public Library (USA), The Library of Congress (USA), The Royal Mail Museum (UK), Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art (Oklahoma, USA). His works are also found in a range of overseas museums, corporate and private collections, including the personal collections of Baroness Margaret Thatcher and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh (UK), and private collections of Marie-Lucie Morin, François Cadier, Mark Richards, and the Kolodzei Art Foundation (Russia–USA).
Since 1999, he has been a regular participant in international biennales of contemporary art, as well as national and international exhibitions.
