RUSSIAN 84 SILVER GILT AND NIELLO ENGRAVED KOVSH

Fine Russian silver gilt kovsh, of a characteristic form with an ovoid body and a long hooked handle. The exterior is adorned with foliate scroll niello motifs in Pan Slavic style. Marked underside with 84 silver standard, assay mark with the date 1875, the Cyrillic maker's mark: PL,' possibly for Loskutov Peter, silversmith at the Sazikov factory, 1852 to 1885, and other Russian hallmarks,
