Description

A splendid porcelain tureen with four strongly relief-sculpted rocaille feet, carried by a pressed, bulging, oval body with a profiled rim. Sides with heart-shaped curved handles. Domed, shell-relief-decorated lid with a pedestal-like ascending knob. Sitting on top as a crowning element is a pair of cupids with a garland of flowers. On both sides of the body and the lid, rocaille cartouches surrounded by lavishly applied flower vines are adorned with scenic depictions of Saxon miners in a landscape with piles of stones and barrels engaged in various activities. Fine, polychrome painting with rich gold embellishments. Surrounding, relief-decorated battlements and cord borders. In the mirror, a fine oval medallion of arabesque foliage and ribbon work.
