Alfreco Painting

Alfreco painting is a painting technique in which paints are applied to pre-dried lime plaster. This technique comes to us from the traditions of antiquity and has elements that can be found in the Middle Ages as well. It allows for bright and saturated colors due to the interaction of pigments with the lime binder. It should be noted that the paints dry quickly, and the artist must work quickly and accurately. Fun fact: Renaissance masters such as Michelangelo in the Sistine Chapel used the alfreco technique to create their famous frescoes.
The complex technology and high degree of skill make many contemporaries admire these works of art!
