Brushstroke

Brushstroke is a technique of applying paint with a brush, important for conveying mood and texture in painting. The word comes from the French "toucher" — "to touch". Each brushstroke creates a unique rhythm, from soft smooth transitions to energetic, sharp strokes. In watercolor, brushstroke allows playing with transparency; in oil, it creates texture and expressiveness.
Masters often experiment with the thickness and direction of strokes to achieve depth of image.
Interestingly, during the Renaissance, too noticeable brushstrokes were considered a flaw, as masters strove for ideal smoothness. Brushstroke is not just a technique, but an artist's language, a way to convey emotions without words.
