Delftware
Legendary ceramics decorated with cobalt

Delftware is a type of ceramics produced since the 17th century in the Dutch city of Delft. The characteristic feature of these pieces is the rich cobalt-blue decoration on a white background, often featuring maritime, landscape, and genre scenes. Early craftsmen were inspired by Chinese porcelain, which was expensive and rare in Europe.
The main highlight is the contrast between the snow-white glaze and the deep blue pattern. Plates with images of windmills and merchant ships became the emblem of the era. Delftware was imitated everywhere — due to demand, there were even curiosities where genuine Chinese masters ordered "Delft" to sell in Europe. Today, authentic pieces are extremely expensive and are considered icons not only of Dutch art but also of the collectible market.
