Blue and White Porcelain

Blue and White Porcelain is a unique phenomenon that emerged in the 13th–14th centuries. Its distinctive feature lies in the use of cobalt blue pigment applied under a transparent glaze on a white porcelain body. This contrast stood out vividly and has endured through the centuries. The painting often depicts flowers, landscapes, mythological subjects, and Chinese characters.
This style achieved great success in Europe and became a model for many manufactories.
Interestingly, in the 17th century, the blue pigment was initially imported from Persia, adding an Asian-Middle Eastern flavor to the tradition. Each pattern is a mini-story captured by the master's brush.
