Gothic
A medieval artistic style characterized by elongated forms and religious symbolism

Gothic is an art style that originated in Europe in the 12th century and reached its peak in the 14th–15th centuries. Main features: elongated figures, gilded backgrounds, bright yet unnatural colors. Its goal is not to show reality but to convey spiritual content, drama, and awe of religious subjects. Artists paid attention to details: for example, the clothes of characters were richly decorated with ornament.
Faces are often strictly spiritualized, and movements are static. Gothic icons and altar paintings sometimes looked mystical: angels with huge eyes, architectural backgrounds as if from a "different world".
Funny that due to the complexity of gilding, masters saved money and reused old panels — archaeologists sometimes find several more layers of old paintings under one image!
