Kinetic Art

Kinetic art is a direction in contemporary art where movement or the illusion of movement becomes a key element of the work. It emerged in the mid-20th century and seeks to combine art, technology, and science, creating dynamic objects that can move on their own or create the effect of movement. Motors, light effects, and interactive elements are often used.

For example, the works of Alexander Calder with moving sculptures (mobiles) have become icons of the genre. The blending of mechanics and creativity sometimes surprises viewers, turning the static perception of art into a living process.

Fun fact: the first kinetic art objects sometimes broke due to overly active movement, unexpectedly adding an element of 'living' character to the works.

This art invites the observer to become part of the movement, expanding traditional ideas about the static nature of art.
