Syncretism

Syncretism is the unification of elements from various styles, techniques, and cultural traditions within a single work of art. This approach allows artists to experiment and create unique pieces, combining, for example, classical forms with modern methods or Western and Eastern motifs.

Syncretism developed widely in the 20th century, when boundaries between movements began to blur. It helps express complex ideas and feelings, as each element brings its own distinct nuance to the composition.

Interestingly, some artists deliberately mixed incompatible techniques to surprise the audience or evoke a specific emotional response.
