Forged silver vase in the Art Nouveau style.
Model – 17B.
Height – 13 cm, diameter of the top – 14.5 cm.
Weight – 308 grams of sterling silver ( = 925 metric standard).
Denmark, Copenhagen, Georg Jensen workshop, after 1945.
Designer Johan Rohde (lifespan: 1856 – 1935) was a Danish artist and designer.
"Georg Jensen" is one of the oldest design houses in Scandinavia, founded in 1904 by the renowned jeweler Georg Jensen (lifespan: 1866 – 1935).
The design of this vase is arguably among the top ten most recognized and popular silver items from the Georg Jensen company, and possibly among the top ten silver items recognized worldwide as iconic designs of the first quarter of the 20th century.
A similar vase — which you can see in the last picture — is a smaller version, model 17A (H: 105 mm), while our vase is model 17B (H: 130 mm). It has been produced since 1912 and continues to this day.
