Forged silver vase in the Art Nouveau style.
Model – 17B.
Height – 13 cm, diameter of the top – 14.5 cm.
Weight – 308 grams of sterling silver ( = 925 fine).
Denmark, Copenhagen, workshop Georg Jensen, post-1945.
Designed by Johan Rohde (lifespan: 1856 – 1935) – a Danish painter and designer.
"Georg Jensen" is one of the oldest design houses in Scandinavia, founded in 1904 by the prominent jeweler Georg Jensen (lifespan: 1866 – 1935).
This vase design is possibly among the top 10 most famous and popular silver items produced by the Georg Jensen company. It may also be considered one of the top 10 silver items recognized worldwide as design icons from the first quarter of the 20th century.
A similar vase – which you can see in the last picture – is smaller in size, model 17A (H: 105 mm), while our vase is model 17B (H: 130 mm). It has been produced since 1912 to the present day.
