Decorative Painting
Ornamentation of objects and interiors with painted elements

Decorative painting is a field of art where the artist's main task is not creating an independent work, but ornamenting objects, architecture, or interior spaces. It is often used in decorating walls, furniture, tableware, porcelain, and textiles, complementing the everyday environment with ornaments, scenes, or patterns. A characteristic feature is its connection to the applied function of the object.
On European palace ceilings of the 18th century, lush decorative murals transformed cold halls into magical spaces, and porcelain plates with fine painting were prestigious gifts. Sometimes the work included amusing details: masters could secretly incorporate their initials into the ornament or paint animals in hidden corners of the panel.
Such painting helps make everyday objects true art objects, combining aesthetic value and utilitarian purpose.
