Flemish School

Flemish School — one of the most brilliant artistic movements of the Renaissance, which originated in Northern Europe, in the territory of modern Belgium and the Netherlands. It is characterized by fine detailing, richness of colors, and realistic depiction of textures and light and shadow. Flemish artists were the first to actively use oil paints, which allowed them to create depth and color saturation superior to traditional techniques.
Among the outstanding masters are Jan van Eyck and Pieter Bruegel the Elder. Flemish painting is especially valued for its ability to convey everyday scenes and still lifes with incredible precision. This movement also had a great influence on European art, becoming a bridge between medieval and more modern painting.
