Gouache

Gouache is a water-based paint characterized by density and a matte finish. Unlike watercolor, gouache becomes opaque after drying and allows you to cover lower layers, make corrections directly on the dry surface. The effect of velvety depth makes such painting popular among illustrators and theater artists.

Gouache is easily diluted with water, dries quickly, and is simple to work with, making it suitable for educational tasks. Historically, it was used for sketches, mockups, and book graphics.

Interestingly, a mistake in gouache can be easily "erased" simply with a clean wet brush! Today, gouache is useful for glossy posters and bright decorative works.
