Matte Glaze

A special method of coating porcelain or ceramic items

Matte Glaze

Matte glaze is a type of ceramic coating without bright shine that gives porcelain and ceramic items a velvety texture. Unlike traditional transparent or glossy glaze, matte glaze accentuates the depth of color and highlights the surface relief. Matte finishes are highly valued by collectors for their understated elegance and modern look.

During firing, it is important to maintain the temperature: overheating sometimes causes undesirable polishing. Fun fact: many 19th-century artists deliberately used matte glazes to emphasize a "painterly" effect and bring the aesthetics of porcelain closer to the texture of painting. Such items are less prone to soiling, but it is better to avoid constant contact with strong dyes—stains may appear. They are perfect for interior accents and collectible figurines!
