Vazon (Flower Urn)
Decorative porcelain container for flowers

Vazon — is not just a container for flowers, but one of the most expressive pieces produced by porcelain manufactories of the 18th–19th centuries. Vazons were created as central pieces for formal interiors: their shapes varied from strict classicism to luxurious Baroque motifs with molded decorations and gilding. They were often supplemented with painted decoration or sculptural figurines, turning an ordinary flower pot into a small masterpiece.
Interestingly, vazons were sometimes made in pairs for symmetry and to adorn palaces.
Rare examples appear at auctions and can be worth more than dinner services — for their uniqueness, the preservation of their painted decoration, and their antique history.
