Venetian School
An outstanding movement in Renaissance painting

Venetian School is an artistic movement that emerged in Venice in the 15th-16th centuries. Its representatives paid special attention to the rendering of light and deep, rich colors, emphasizing refined colorism. Famous are Titian, Veronese, Tintoretto — each of them masterfully combined the finest color nuances and aerial effects, creating canvases with a particular softness of form.
The Venetian School became a revolution in the interpretation of color. Instead of traditional detailed drawing, artists prioritized emotionality and complex play of colors, which had a great influence on European art. Their paintings give viewers the sensation of "colored air" and a saturated atmosphere. One curiosity: Titian, renowned as an unsurpassed colorist, sometimes deliberately delayed commissioned work so that the colors would dry better and appear more vivid!
