We present to your attention a vibrant example of Russian Art Nouveau.

Often, when referring to "Russian Art Nouveau," we think of silver items made using the techniques of
cloisonné and polychrome enamels, primarily envisioning pieces crafted in the workshop of the great Russian jeweler Fyodor Ivanovich Ryukert,
or by his followers who combined the style of "late Ryukert" with innovative design elements.
This particular shot glass, in my opinion, represents a completely different, considerably rarer
variety of Russian Art Nouveau, one that is more expressive and emotional.
Due to its rich, vibrant colors and the absence of the swampy hue that has become
a distinctive feature of Ryukert's works, this shot glass, I believe, fully reflects the essence of the Russian spirit, and therefore can rightly be called "more Russian."
Russian Empire, workshop of Ivan Khlebnikov - Supplier to the Court of His
Imperial Majesty, 1871-1917.
