We present to you a vibrant example of Russian Art Nouveau.

Often, when we refer to "Russian Art Nouveau," we imagine silver items made in the technique of filigree and polychrome enamels, primarily those produced in the workshop of the great Russian jeweler Fyodor Ivanovich Rykkert or by his followers, who combined the "late Rykkert" style with innovative design elements. This particular shot glass, in my opinion, represents a completely different, notably rarer variety of the Art Nouveau movement, one that is more expressive and emotional. Due to the intensely bright colors and the absence of the murky color that became a distinctive feature of Rykkert’s works, this shot glass, in my view, most fully reflects the essence of the Russian spirit, and thus it can rightly be called "more Russian." Russian Empire, workshop of Ivan Khlebnikov - Supplier to the Court of His Imperial Majesty, 1871-1917.
