1930 Graduated from the professional courses of fine arts of Krasnopresnensky RONO, Moscow.
1936-1945 Teacher in rural schools of Smolensk region. 1945-1949 Head of the Local History Museum of Sychevka. 1946-1953 Member of the Association of Moscow Artists. 1954 Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR (since 1991 - member of the Union of Artists of Russia). 1955 Awarded the Diploma of the first degree of the MC of the RSFSR. 1958-1964 Chairman of the Board of the Smolensk Organization of the Agricultural Academy of the RSFSR.1985 Awarded the Order of the Patriotic War II degree. 1999 Awarded the honorary title "Honored Artist of the Russian Federation". P. N. Ionov is a delegate of the I All-Union Congress of Soviet Artists (1957), I Founding Congress of Artists of the RSFSR (1960), II All-Union Congress of Artists (1960), II Congress of the Union of Artists of the RSFSR (1968), III Congress of the Union of Artists of the RSFSR (1972).
