The works of Ageeva N.I. are kept in the Smolensk Museum-Reserve, the museum of Chita, are in private collections in Russia, France, Egypt, Canada, USA. Painter and graphic artist N. I. Ageeva belongs to the glorious generation of artists - "sixties", whose work was formed under the influence of the ideals of Khrushchev's "thaw". Nina Ippolitovna Ageeva was born in Moscow on June 30, 1932.
During her school years, she studied in the art studio of the Moscow City House of Pioneers with V. A. Voronin. In 1950, she entered the Kuibyshev Moscow Institute of Civil Engineering, while attending classes at the art studio of the Moscow Builders Club, which was headed by B. F. Rybchenkov. Four years later, she left the Construction Institute and entered the first year of the Moscow State Pedagogical Institute named after V. N. Potemkin (later MGPI named after Lenin).
She studied painting with L. M. Barkalov and B. M. Nemensky.
In 1960 she successfully graduated from the Institute. In the same year, having left her Moscow residence permit, together with her classmates V. V. Yelchaninov and V. A. Laskin, she moved to Smolensk to teach at the art and graphic department of the Physics and Mathematics Faculty of the Smolensk Pedagogical Institute.
She took an active part in the formation of the Art and graphic Faculty. In 1969, she left the institute and switched to creative work.
In 1972-1981, she was repeatedly elected to the Board of the Smolensk Organization of the Union of Artists of Russia. In the mid-70s, she headed the youth commission, supervised the work of the association of young artists, having managed to gather the most gifted creative youth of the Smolensk region in it. In 1976, she was elected a delegate to the IV Congress of Artists of the RSFSR. Ageeva's creativity does not fit into the framework of any particular style or direction. Her meditation paintings, whether genre canvases, portraits or landscapes, are always filled with the personal feeling of the author. In her work there are many self-portraits, children's portraits, paintings-portraits of her mother, there were completely forgotten family portraits.Outside of this "family" circle, the heroes of her portraits are, as a rule, highly intelligent creative personalities: Metropolitan Kirill, professor-literary critic V. S. Bayevsky, outstanding director A.V. Efros, etc. N. Ageeva appears in a slightly different capacity as a graphic artist. Her graphic sheets are distinguished by clarity, intimacy, poetic touch and, of course, high professionalism. Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR since 1967 N. I. Ageeva is a regular participant of regional art exhibitions, many zonal, republican, All-Russian and All-Union exhibitions, exhibitions of works by Smolensk artists in Lodz (Poland) and Hagen (Germany).
Ageeva's creativity is not subject to the conjunctural trends of the time. Not awarded high awards and titles, she remains one of the leading Smolensk artists, and her work is an intellectual and moral measure of the fine art of the Smolensk region. V. M. Anikeev
