Mizanabim

Mizanabim is an artistic technique used to create the initial layer of a drawing that sets the overall tone and color of the future work. With this method, artists prepare the painting by laying broad strokes and shades, allowing the final effect to be seen at early stages of the work. In this process, colors are layered over each other in transparency mode, creating an effect of depth and multilayeredness.
Often used with watercolor or oil, this method allows masters to work faster and experiment more with various techniques and shades. Incidentally, by applying the mizan-image, some masters even openly played with flaws, turning them into unique storylines, which led to the emergence of new artistic styles!
