Easel Painting

Easel painting is a style of painting in which the artist creates a work on a portable canvas or wood mounted on an easel. This art form dates back to the Renaissance and became the dominant method of creating paintings until the advent of modern technology. Easel painting gives the artist free access to experimentation with color and form, allowing him to visually express his ideas, emotions, and worldview.

One of the remarkable features of easel painting is the ability to use various techniques – from oil and acrylic to watercolor and pastel. Each of these techniques has its own characteristic features and peculiarities. Compared to another form, such as fresco, where work is done directly on walls, easel painting provides more freedom in the creative process.

It is also more accessible for trade and collecting, making it an integral part of the art market.
