In 1785 John Davenport began working as a potter with Tomas Wolf from Stock-Oon Trent.In the end, he became a partner in the company.Davenport acquired his own ceramics in Longport, Staffordshire, England, in 1794.

The production of bone porcelain began somewhere between 1805 and 1810.In September 1806, Prince of Wales, subsequently George IV, ordered a dining room service.John Holland (1830-1872), a landscape artist, began working at Davenport in 1842.For the first seven years, he painted flowers.Holland's father and other family members also worked in Davenport.When John retired in 1830, his sons William and Henry took over the company's management.When Henry died in 1835, the company became William Davenport and Company.When William died in 1869, his two sons inherited the company.The company continued to produce products until Burleig Pottery purchased a factory in 1887.
