Khrapunov-Navoy The porcelain cup with the gilded inscription "ON THE ANGEL'S DAY" was made at the famous porcelain enterprise of Yakov Khrapunov-Navoy. The factory of the Novoy brothers was founded in 1818 in the village of Kuzyaevo, Bogorodsky District, Moscow Province, not far from Gzhel. The enterprise was established by three brothers, with the eldest, Ivan, heading the factory. The middle brother, Tikhon, managed the factory around the 1830s, possibly in collaboration with the youngest brother, Semyon. The latter took over the porcelain and faience manufactory in the 1840s. Under the brothers' leadership, the factory thrived, producing porcelain and faience. Over several decades, the factory reached a level of prosperity sufficient to become one of the best enterprises in Gzhel. To this day, quite a number of the factory's products have survived, distinguished by their good quality. The porcelain factory of N.S. Khrapunov also operated in Moscow Province from 1815 to 1840. The enterprise produced porcelain and faience tableware and sculptures. By the mid-1850s, the factory's heiress, Agafya Novaya, married Yakov Khrapunov, the grandson of the factory owner N. Khrapunov. Since after marriage, Khrapunov became the owner of the factory, he decided to keep the last name of the former owners and adopted the surname Khrapunov-Navoy. From this period, the factory bore the name of the new owner. During his tenure, Y.G. Khrapunov-Navoy significantly expanded production, equipping the workshops with modern hydraulic presses, grinding and steam machines, as well as other necessary equipment. If in 1853, when the manufacturer just began to run the factory, there were 45 employees, by 1871, the number of workers increased to 245, indicating a significant scale of production. Under Khrapunov-Navoy, the factory became one of the largest ceramic enterprises in the country. In 1918, the enterprise was nationalized and renamed Kuzyaevsky Porcelain Factory.
