The porcelain work was created as part of a special project during Mikhail Shemyakin's collaboration with the Imperial Porcelain Factory in 2006. "Drunken Mouse" is one of the sculptures dedicated to a series of characters from the ballet of the same name, staged at the Mariinsky Theater with sets and costumes by the world-renowned artist.

Mikhail Mikhailovich Shemyakin (b. 1943) – artist, sculptor, laureate of the State Prize of the Russian Federation, People's Artist of Kabardino-Balkaria, People's Artist of the Republic of Adygea, honorary doctor of the University of San Francisco. Shemyakin's works are part of the permanent collections of museums in the USA, Russia, France, Poland, and CIS countries. He is the author of monuments such as "Peter the Great" (1991), "Victims of Political Repression" (1995), "Founding Architects" (1995) in Saint Petersburg, as well as monuments in New York, Paris, London, and other cities around the world.
