By the beginning of the nineteenth century, several clay pottery appeared in Staffordshire in Staffordshire.

John Smith founded a group of pottery workshops, known as Foley Potteries, in 1827.Elkin, Knight & amp;Bridgewood was one of the companies.Knight became the only owner in 1853.Soon, Henry Vileman became a partner.The company became Knight & amp;Wileman.When Knight retired three years later, Henry Vileman became the only owner, doing business as Wileman & amp;Co.
