Silver salt cellar with roses. Enamel, gilding. Russian Empire (Russia), Moscow, 1908-1926, Ovchinnikov Pavel Akimovich factory - Supplier to the Court of His Imperial Majesty of the Russian Empire. Height: 5 cm. Maximum diameter: 7 cm. Weight: 81 grams of silver of 84 zolotnik fineness ( = 875 metric fineness). Hallmarks: "P.Ovchinnikov" - hallmark with the abbreviated name of Pavel Akimovich Ovchinnikov, a master silversmith, owner of a firm producing gold and silver items. Since 1865, the firm has become an official supplier to the Court of Tsarevich Alexander (future Emperor Alexander III) and received the highest "court-appointed" status. In 1872, the company was granted the title of supplier to the Court of His Imperial Majesty, in 1878 - the title of supplier to the Court of Grand Duke Mikhail Nikolaevich. In 1881 and 1896, the status of court-appointed supplier was confirmed. "Double-headed eagle" - hallmark with the state emblem, certifying the title of Supplier to the Court of His Imperial Majesty of the Russian Empire. Three-digit Russian-Soviet hallmark in an oval 1908-1926 - "portrait of a woman in a kokoshnik, facing right" with the letter "Δ" (delta) and the number "84", where: "portrait of a woman in a kokoshnik, facing right" - assurance mark; "Δ" (delta) - the cipher of the Moscow Assay Office; the number "84" certifies that the item is made of 84 finesse silver.
