The first glass -shoes arrived in Bayel in the 13th century, when Philip Le Bel was the king of France.

The production of glass at that time depended on the furnaces working on firewood - and Bayel had plenty of them.Three centuries later, the Prime Minister of Louis XIV Jean Batist Kolbert also showed a close interest in Bayel's artistic glass factories, which he intended to develop along with the craft industry of France as a whole.It all began in 1666 with the arrival of the Venetian glassbuilder Jean-Batista Mazzole along with other glass-shower from Murano.In the same year, by decree of Louis XIV Mazzole received permission to install his production in Bayel, which remained the official supplier of the French royal court until 1727.Bayel occupies one of the first places in the production of glass along with Baccarat, Daum, Lalique, awarded the such desired industry awards “NF Haute Cristallerie”.
