Natives of the Liveley family were pottery in the city of Hanley;Edwin Powell was a potter who studied at Dimmoks in Hanley, and Frederick Bishop was a lawyer providing financial support to the enterprise.In 1878, John Stowuner, a porcelain and glass in Liverpool, joined Powell and Bishop.One of the specializations of his company was the equipment of the liners of that time, such as Brunel's Great Britain and the ill -fated titanium.
Most of the products manufactured by the company were exported.In 1876, Powell and Bishop were exhibited at an exhibition in Philadelphia
