A plate from the military cabinet of KPM, circa 1849-1870, made of porcelain. It measures 25.8 cm (10 1/8 inches) in diameter. It is painted with the image of Russian Emperor Nicholas I on horseback, wearing the uniform of the Ulan Regiment. It is signed by the artist Karl Preuss and framed by a blue molded border with gilt edges, featuring the Imperial arms in the center and the inscription "Der Reitergeist, im Herzen frisch erhalten, Erhebt und stärket noch den Greis, den alten!" (The rider's spirit, still fresh in the heart, lifts and strengthens the old man!) The plate also features a scepter mark above an eagle within a roundel in underglaze green. In 2006, a similar plate was sold at Sotheby's for 16,800 EUR.
