Place of origin: Russian Empire, St. Petersburg, workshop of K.A. Seipel.
Date of creation: 1855.
Weight - 562 grams of silver of 84 standard (= 875 metric standard).
The sugar bowl has rounded sides in the shape of a pumpkin, tapering upwards to a short, decorative neck. Symmetrically, on four sides, the lavishness of the item’s form is accentuated by double facets that begin at the edges of the sugar bowl and extend almost to the bottom.
The sugar bowl is set on four concave legs that resemble animal paws from below, and on top, at the joints with the body, they are adorned with relief palmettes featuring an asymmetric floral pattern and rocaille elements.
The loop-shaped handles of the item are executed in the form of twisted vines.
The relief of the hinged dome-shaped lid is identical to that of the body. The grip on the lid is in the form of a three-dimensional branch with fruit.
Marks on the item:
"CAS" - hallmark with the initials of the master.
Russian assay marks used until 1899:
"AM" - initials of the assay master Alexander Nikolaevich Mitin, 1842-1877.
The number "1855" indicates the year of marking.
The number "84" certifies that the item is made of 84 standard silver.
"Two anchors crossed" - hallmark of the St. Petersburg Assay Office.

The presented sugar bowl is a vivid example of a piece made in the Rococo style, greatly favored by Russian jewelers of the 19th century.
